Revision Rhinoplasty In Iran

Best Specialists & prices

Revision Rhinoplasty should be performed by a more experienced and specialized surgeon if the primary Rhinoplasty is not acceptable for cosmetic or medical reasons.

What Is Revision Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty in Iran is a cosmetic intervention for those who are not happy with the result of their nose surgery. Revision rhinoplasty, also known as secondary rhinoplasty or retouching, helps to alleviate the appearance of the first operation and make the person more satisfied with their appearance. In addition to the appearance of the nose, sometimes primary surgery may lead to structural abnormalities in the nose that make it difficult to breathe. In revision rhinoplasty, the surgeon corrects these abnormalities in the revision rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty is one of the most challenging and delicate plastic surgeries. The reason can be due to the location of the nose on the face and its high impact on the appearance and beauty of the person, and not necessarily the complex structure of this organ. Therefore, choosing the right surgeon for revision rhinoplasty is very important. One of the reasons for the need for a revision rhinoplasty is the poor performance of the surgeon in the initial rhinoplasty. Of course, there are other reasons that we will discuss in the following. In Medpaltrip, we introduce the best surgeons to ensure a successful and cost-effective surgery. In the following, after examining the cost of repairing the operated nose, we will discuss the reasons for the need for this surgery. Then we will talk about the stages of the operation and pre- and postoperative care in Iran.

Why Is Revision Rhinoplasty Necessary?

Rhinoplasty is performed when a person is not happy with their initial nose surgery for any reason. This dissatisfaction can occur shortly after surgery or over a relatively long period of time. Since a person’s appearance has a significant effect on their self-confidence, rhinoplasty surgery can help restore that confidence. Common problems that lead to revision rhinoplasty include:

  • Obstruction of the nasal passages and difficulty breathing for the person;
  • Enlargement of the nose after surgery;
  • Sagging cartilage or tip of the nose;
  • Asymmetry of the nose relative to the face;
  • Excessive or asymmetrical reduction of nasal hump;
  • Nose tip artificialization;
  • Too narrow nose tip;
  • Too narrow nose blade;
  • Deviation of the nasal septum;
  • The upper and lower nostrils;
  • Remaining of surgical nose scar (surgical scar) as thickened skin.

To address some of the above, in addition to surgery, there are other methods for rhinoplasty in the office (non surgical nose revision), which are mentioned below:

Nose Revision With Filler Injection

This method, which is usually used for minor corrections, uses hyaluronic acid gel. The most common use of this technique with gel injections is to remove nasal humps and depressions. The filler is temporary and usually lasts between 6 and 12 months. The body absorbs the filler after a while and needs to be re-injected. Filler injections cost less than revision rhinoplasty surgery.

Nose Thread Lift

This method is not as simple as the other two methods, but it is not considered invasive like rhinoplasty. In this method, the surgeon uses absorbent threads to lift the tip of the nose. The result of this method takes time to surface until the threads. However the results last less than rhinoplasty (between 2 to 3 years).

Revision Rhinoplasty In Iran

Revision Rhinoplasty, also known as secondary rhinoplasty or retouch rhinoplasty, is a cosmetic intervention for those who are unhappy with their primary rhinoplasty. In revision rhinoplasty, the surgeon tries to reshape the nose with the most advanced surgical methods to correct the asymmetries and also to eliminate respiratory problems.

If a large portion of the nasal cartilage has been removed during the initial surgery, revision surgery may require the addition of cartilage to the nose; In these cases, the surgeon removes extra cartilage from the ribs or ear to create enough symmetry in the nose.

There are surgical incisions in both closed and open nose surgery. Although the incision in closed nose surgery is smaller and the duration is shorter, the surgeon has less access to and control over nasal tissue. Many surgeons, especially for rhinoplasty, prefer the open method and it usually leads to better results.

Success Rate of Revision Rhinoplasty in Iran

The success rate of revision rhinoplasty in Iran is rather high and most patients achieve amazing results. Of course, everything depends on the patients’ expectations in the first place, and you should also keep in mind that rhinoplasty is a complex operation and requires full knowledge of the anatomical structure of the nose and extreme practical skills. The partner doctors of Medpaltrip provide you with the best services.

In Iran, How Long After The Primary Rhinoplasty Can Revision Rhinoplasty Be Performed?

It is recommended to wait at least a year to decide on revision rhinoplasty. While in some cases, the swelling of the nose decreases almost immediately after surgery, it may take up to a year, most surgeons believe that a small amount of swelling takes even longer to fade away. It also takes at least a year for the tissue at the surgical site to be ready for a second surgery. In the case of fleshy noses, this time can be as long as two years. If you have revision rhinoplasty too early in less than a year, you may turn a minor problem into a major disaster; so be patient.

Who Is A Good Candidate For Revision Rhinoplasty?

We recommend secondary rhinoplasty if:

  • The candidate is suffering from respiratory problems such as nasal obstruction or functional problems after your initial rhinoplasty;
  • The patient was injured during your recovery period: For example, a blow to the nose;
  • You are not satisfied with the final appearance of the nose after surgery;
  • You have realistic expectation of rhinoplasty;
  • Adequate physical health;
  • Appropriate time and at least one year from the initial surgery.

Preoperative Preparations

  • Calm down and prepare your mind. Your concern before surgery is normal. One of the steps you can take to reduce your anxiety is to share your expectations with the surgeon and ask them questions during preoperative counseling sessions. This will clear your mind of what is going to happen and reduce your worries. In these sessions, the doctor will ask about your medical history and the medications you are taking, and will examine the surgical site. You need to work with your doctor honestly.
  • Get adequate sleep the night before.
  • Proper nutrition and drinking enough water before the start of fasting is very important. If you are well hydrated, you will feel less nauseous and generally feel better.
  • Fast for at least 8 hours before surgery so that you can safely receive the anesthesia needed for surgery.
  • To improve the results and recover faster after surgery, it is better to stop consuming alcohol, cigarettes and tobacco two weeks before your surgery.
  • Discontinue blood-thinning medications such as aspirin shortly before surgery, in consultation with your doctor.
  • After surgery, especially in the first two weeks, you will spend a lot of time in bed and the surgery site may have a bloody discharge. Having lots of clean and washed clothes and sheets makes you not have to worry about this.
  • On the morning of surgery, it is best to wear clothing that has a button on the front that opens or has a large collar.

How It Is Done

Revision rhinoplasty is more complex and challenging than primary rhinoplasty. Although a primary revision rhinoplasty is the best time to fix all the cosmetic and functional problems of the nose, with the help of a skilled surgeon who is introduced to you by Medpaltrip, the success rate of revision surgery is still very high.

  • During the preoperative consultation, your surgeon determines whether open or closed nose surgery is the necessary technique. In most cases, surgeons prefer performing open revision rhinoplasty.
  • Depending on the type and amount of changes and incisions in the nose, the surgeon places atelier on the nose and bandages the nose. The hospital staff will then transfer you to the recovery room to return from anesthesia. Once you are fully conscious, they will take you to the ward. You will usually be discharged on the day of surgery, unless you need to stay overnight in the hospital.
