  • Damaged or fractured porcelain veneers are not repairable but ceramic veneers are.

  • Porcelain veneer or dental laminate is not suitable for young teeth and growing teeth. The Suitable age for dental veneers and porcelain veneers is after 17 for girls and after 20 for boys. Before this age, the teeth, gums and jawbone are still growing and are not at a stable state. Steps of Installing Porcelain Veneers

  • To install porcelain veneer in Iran, your dentist will first examine your mouth, gums and teeth. At this stage, you may need to take an x-ray image of your teeth for a closer examination.
  • After full examination, our dentists at Medpaltrip will present your appropriate treatment plan. You may require other treatments prior to  installing porcelain veneer.
  • In the first session, the dentist determines the color of the porcelain veneer according to the color of your other teeth.
  • During the initial examinations, the dentist takes photographs of your teeth and smiles. There are special softwares that simulate an ideal smile suitable for each individual.
  • Then, the dentist starts machining the surface of the tooth with the help of the data presented by the software. These are often 0.5mm deep. Take note that there is no need for dental machining if you use very thin porcelain veneers, such as those made by Lumineer Company.
  • After machining, the dentist will make a mold of your teeth and send it to the laboratory where they make the right porcelain veneers for your teeth based on the mold and other information such as the shape, color and type of porcelain veneer that the dentist provides.
  • There is usually a gap of about one to two weeks between the molding session and the installation of the porcelain veneer. During this time, the dentist will install a temporary veneer on your teeth to maintain the beauty of your teeth during this gap and prevent tooth sensitivity.
  • At the next session, the dentist first removes the temporary veneer and then, installs the final porcelain veneer on your teeth using dentistry cement glue.

  • You may resume using the toothbrush and floss on the same day after receiving the treatment.
  • Your teeth may become sensitive to hot and cold foods. This will resolve in 2 weeks. You should see your dentist if it persists.
  • To prevent discoloration of porcelain veneers, use less pigmented foods such as coffee, tea, cigarettes and cheetos.
  • Avoid putting too much pressure on the porcelain veneer as they are often not repairable and if broken, should be replaced entirely.

To prevent tooth decay and gum disease, in addition to daily use of toothbrushes and floss, visit your dentist every 6 months for periodic checkups.
